Q.   How long does a job take to complete from start to finish?

A.    Typically, a complete basement finishing or basement remodeling job will take around 8 - 12 weeks, or so. Large jobs or projects requiring custom work will take longer, and that's normal.

Q.    Can I save money if my framing is pretty much completed already?

A.    In a short answer, yes. However, we find that once we visit a project in person, the bulk of the framing is actually on the ceilings. Most homeowners focus on the location of the walls and rooms, and just don't realize that anything on the ceiling in the way of hanging drywall must be dealt with. Some things can be moved, and some cannot. In addition, if we add new HVAC ductwork, that may also need to be framed around. Also, any exterior concrete walls will need to be framed as well. To sum up, if your framing is more or less completed, then you can save money, but be sure to look at the ceilings as well.
Q.   How much money should I budget for my basement project ?

A.    It is up to each and every homeowner to determine what they have to spend, or what they want to spend. We have included a pricing page with information which is there to help prospective clients determine a realistic budget. That information is not there to encourage or discourage, but to be clear and up front about the potential costs involved. A good rule of thumb is that the homeowner should be in a financial position to spend around $40.00 per square foot for a typical project. If you do the math, an average 1200 square foot basement would require at least $48,000.00. That's a good number to start with and that gets you in the ballpark. See more on our pricing page.
Q.    Who will be working in my home?

A.     Our craftsmen and subcontractors work with us on each and every job, and have been with us for a many years.  They are all genuinely nice, friendly, honest people.  We are conscious of your property and security, and we would never send someone into a client's home who wouldn't be welcome into our own.
Q.    Do you use different workers for basic basements and custom basements?

A.    Not at all. We use the exact same workers for every single project we complete, regardless of the budget. The same guy who creates the beautiful trimmed columns and crown molding in a $100,000.00 project is the same guy who hangs 3-4 doors in a basic 700 square foot finished basement. That's true of the tile installer, kitchen fabricator, flooring installer, framing crew, electrician, plumber, HVAC tech, and down to the project supervision and communication. It's the same crew on every project. Regardless of the customer, the location, or the size of the budget, every project and homeowner is equally important and we are proud of each and every project we complete.

Q.    My basement is already finished. Can your company refinish it for me?

A.    Sure, we can refinish a basement that was finished at an earlier time. The difficult part is in estimating the costs for projects like these because much of what we would need to see and identify is covered up. While we can project certain costs, the only way we can be sure of the work required is to first demolish and remove the existing finish materials (walls & flooring). Once everything is exposed and in the open, we can give more accurate estimate numbers and avoid any surprises. We can provide the demolition services or the homeowner is welcome to handle this on their own as well.

Q.    Does my basement need to be cleaned out before work can start?

A.    We do prefer to work in an empty space because anything left in the work area is at risk of being damaged. It is possible to have some things placed in an area in the basement which might be set aside for unfinished storage, but those things will end up covered in some dust. We don't mind helping out and moving a few things around if needed, but we don't clean out basements. That is the homeowner's responsibility.
