Q. How long does a job take to complete from start to finish?
A. Typically, a complete basement finishing or basement remodeling job will take around 8 - 10 weeks. Large jobs or projects requiring custom work will take longer, and that's normal.
Q. Can you provide references from your past projects?
A. Absolutely! While we don't ask for reference letters to put on our website, many of our past customers have offered to speak with prospective clients if asked, and many are happy to invite you to their homes to see the finished work in person. You are welcome to ask them any questions about their happiness with the work, their experience in working with our company, and the like. The quality of our work and the satisfaction of our past customers is our best form of adverstising.
Q. Can I save money if my framing is pretty much completed already?
A. In a short answer, yes. However, we find that once we visit a project in person, the bulk of the framing is actually on the ceilings. Most homeowners focus on the location of the walls and rooms, and just don't realize that anything on the ceiling in the way of hanging drywall must be dealt with. Some things can be moved, and some cannot. In addition, if we add new HVAC ductwork, that may also need to be framed around. Also, any exterior concrete walls will need to be framed as well. To sum up, if your framing is more or less completed, then you can save money, but be sure to look at the ceilings as well.
Q. How much money should I budget for my basement project ?
A. It is up to each and every homeowner to determine what they have to spend, or what they want to spend. We have included a pricing page with information which is there to help prospective clients determine a realistic budget. That information is not there to encourage or discourage, but to be clear and up front about the potential costs involved. A good rule of thumb is that the homeowner should be in a financial position to spend a minimum $35.00 per square foot. If you do the math, an average 1200 square foot basement would require at least $42,000.00. That's a good number to start with and that gets you in the ballpark. See more on our pricing page.
Q. Who will be working in my home?
A. Our craftsmen and subcontractors work with us on each and every job, and have been with us for a many years. We are conscious of your property and security, and we would never send someone into a client's home who wouldn't be welcome into our own.
Q. What other services do you provide besides basement finishing?
A. We provide the following additional services: Interior & exterior repainting, pressure washing, siding replacement, general trim installation, drywall installation & finishing, and other miscellaneous remodeling and repair services. We use the same employees and contractors for these services as we use for the basement finishing projects, so the quality, customer service and attention to detail is exactly the same. If you have a project you would like us to take a look at, just give us a call or send us an email. If it's something we cannot help you with, we'll be happy to recommend someone to you.
Q. Do you provide a warranty for your work?
A. Our warranty policy is very simple: We stand behind our work, period. There is no time limit in doing the right thing, so whether it's 3 months or 3 years, if we're responsible for something, we'll make it right. That said, we've never had any warranty issues, and that's due to the fact that we inspect our work thoroughly before project completion, and any needed areas of attention are addressed. We stand behind our craftsmanship and the installation of the materials we provide, and we also stand behind the installation of the materials the homeowner provides. Like most companies, we cannot warrant the repair or replacement of materials which have been neglected, improperly used or abused.
Q. Can I finish just part of my basement now, and the rest at a later time?
A. That really depends upon the project, and there are a few things you need to consider. It will always cost more to finish in phases versus completing the project all at once. That's because it takes more time, more trips, and more scheduling to work in this manner. It's almost like turning one job into 2 or 3 jobs. That said, for homeowners who really need to finish in phases, the most cost effective manner is to allow us to complete each specific task 100%. For example, all framing should be done at once, all HVAC, electrical & plumbing should be done at once. Then, phase two would be the finishing, such as drywall, trim, paint & flooring. Each project is different, so call if you need to discuss this with us. We'll work with you if we can.

Q. Does my basement need to be cleaned out before work can start?
A. We do prefer to work in an empty space because anything left in the work area is at risk of being damaged. It is possible to have some things placed in an area in the basement which might be set aside for unfinished storage, but those things will end up covered in some dust. We don't mind helping out and moving a few things around if needed, but we don't clean out basements. That is the homeowner's responsibility.
Q. My basement is already finished. Can your company refinish it for me?
A. Sure, we can refinish a basement that was finished at an earlier time. The difficult part is in estimating the costs for projects like these because much of what we would need to see and identify is covered up. While we can project certain costs, the only way we can be sure of the work required is to first demolish and remove the existing finish materials (walls & flooring). Once everything is exposed and in the open, we can give more accurate estimate numbers and avoid any surprises. We can provide the demolition services or the homeowner is welcome to handle this on their own as well.
